About us
Croygas Sports Club started as a sports facility provided by British Gas for their staff. Before this, the grounds were owned by Metropolitan Gas which would have been around the 1920s. The club grounds were sited within the old Croydon Airport, which was in use in WWII but has since been developed and looks very different today. In 1996 the club became independently owned and operated by its then management comittee, as British Gas relinquished ownership and dispensed its support for the sports club. In recent years Croygas has invested in a new modern 3g football all weather playing facility.
Croygas today is a friendly club, and we like to welcome people interested in a wide variety of sports. We have a very strong bowls club with a superb bowling green. We also house a very active football section that runs team events throughout the season. . Our cricket club is also active and plays matches throughout the season. New for this year is Croygas Amateur Boxing who meet three times a week and cater for all age groups at various session times. For those who enjoy running we host Collingwood RunningClub. We also have a very active social club with many events held throughout the year for members and their families.
